[It's been over a month, and Mitsuki still can't believe Albert went ahead and got him the business permit for a bakery. It still feels like so much, but after picking the place and setting everything up and writing the menu and making everything...
It's been wonderful. It's something that's both nostalgic and entirely new - it's so much more work than working at the bakery bake home, but he's glad he paid enough attention to things that the business side of things isn't entirely overwhelming. Still, it's nice to wake up early, get things in the oven, and then spend the rest of the day making people happy. And with the fresh flowers Albert brings in every day, it's even better.
Speaking of Albert - the man has become something of the only real official taste tester for the bakery. He asks just about everyone he knows for their opinions, but since Albert is the financier, he gets the final say. Hence, tonight. It's long past closing, and Mitsuki has invited Albert over. The man has a copy of the keys, so Mitsuki isn't worried. He just keeps himself busy in the kitchen, putting the finishing touches on a tray of macarons, waiting for the sound of the door.]
[Albert feels he sees less of Mitsuki lately, and he wholly blames himself for it. That's why he's overjoyed and relieved when the busy idol turned patisserie still invites him to taste test the new items at the bakery. It's been two weeks since they spent any appreciable time together besides Albert's persistent morning greetings, as he's been terribly busy working his way into governmental affairs. It's taxing, but not as taxing as his old life, so he calls it mostly a win. Mostly. It only truly feels like one when precious time to see Mitsuki slides into his schedule.
He opens the door, its happy little chime bringing an already nostalgic smile to his face. This may have been given to Mitsuki as a gift, and it is most assuredly his domain, but something about it still rings of them. It's a special place, where he can stare unendingly at Mitsuki as he plans new recipes with boundless enthusiasm, or sit and enjoy freshly brewed tea and a little cake while Mitsuki does the day's accounting. This is like their little getaway, for Albert at least. Surely it's just business as usual for Mitsuki, but it's fine for certain things to be a little one-sided, after all.]
Mitsuki?
[He's not in the front of the shop, so he's surely in the kitchen already. It looks like Albert won't get the pleasure of watching him go through the whole process this time, but he knows it's his own fault for being kept so late by business of his own. Heading back to the kitchen, he can't help his expression shifting into the absolute fondest of smiles when he sees Mitsuki, apron on, sleeves rolled up, his hair just faintly tousled... The fondness lingers in silence for a beat as he stares in quiet awe at what this place has given him, at radiant sunshine even in the darkest of nights. He would do anything for Mitsuki, and he's come to accept that. He cherishes it, even.]
I'm sorry I've come so late. You have my most utterly sincere apologies. [He bows his head only far enough to look apologetic, but not enough that his gaze has to leave Mitsuki.] And these smell delightful! Goodness, my mouth is already watering just looking at them.
[He hears the chiming of the bell, so there’s already a smile on his face when Albert enters the kitchen. He was already excited for his visit, but seeing him again, knowing that he has the night ahead…
It’s been so long. It’s been almost too long, but Mitsuki knows Albert is a busy man who wants to change the world. Politics aren’t exactly something you can do casually, and it’s an honorable thing so Mitsuki can’t begrudge Albert being busy or distracted. It just makes moments like these all the sweeter.]
Hey! You’re not really all that late, so don’t worry about.
[…Mitsuki might have gotten wrapped up in things and stopped keeping track of time. It’s fine. It happens.
He grins, eyes bright as he looks at Albert with open adoration.]
Good, because I need you to try as many as you can handle.
[He’ll explain the flavors as he goes - but first, he’s going to dust off his hands and circle around to Albert’s side, leaning and stretching to press a kiss to his cheek in greeting.]
[Why change this world if he can't share it with Mitsuki? He learned his lesson back home, or rather by coming here and eventually knowing what their plots back home wrought. A world improved is not worth improving if the people you treasure can't share it.
He vows to make more time for Mitsuki when he sees that brilliant light in his eyes. The kiss to his cheek isn't nearly enough, but he's so enamored that he just stares back for a brief moment as Mitsuki pulls away. The kiss is returned, though to his dear idol's forehead, before he slightly reluctantly looks to the desserts.]
I'll try them all, of course. Luckily for us both, I had an early and rather light lunch today, so I have plenty of room to spare.
[He notes Mitsuki's hands probably need to stay clean enough to handle food, so when he reaches out for him, it's Mitsuki's elbow that he gently catches. The softness in his eyes as he looks down at him is genuine and comes from the deepest parts of his heart.]
[He gestures broadly at the trays, looking back at Albert. He was having a good day, if incredibly busy, but just having Albert around makes everything so much better. It’s so small, but it’s wonderful. He got so lucky, ending up in a place as crazy as this and finding a man like Albert. What were the chances?
He points at a cluster of pink macarons.]
These are chiri blossom and chocolate. The ones next to it are rose and chiri blossom, these are matcha - have you tried matcha yet? And these are earl grey. Flowers and tea seem like a good fit for the summer, right?
[He pauses at the hand on his elbow, and he feels a bit like swooning. Albert just… Has that ability.]
I missed you too - it’s good to be with you again. Hopefully we can get more nights like this…
[His eyes just sparkle as he tears his attention away from Mitsuki and politely focuses on the baked goods. They look divine, they truly do, and he's eager to try them.]
Matcha? No, to be honest I don't think I've had the pleasure. I'm sure this will be a marvelous introduction to it.
[He does politely let Mitsuki go, but he'll intrude upon his space again in no time, surely.]
The election is coming up, so I'm hoping to have more time after, no matter the outcome. My dearest Mitsuki, do know you're at the very top of my priorities.
[His smile is so gently apologetic that he actually catches himself doing it and looks sheepish.]
Ah, but I ought to be trying your remarkable desserts rather than carrying on!
[Hopefully he likes it. He doesn't see why he wouldn't, honestly, because he feels he has a good idea of what Albert likes by now. Still!

Albert is nothing if not charming and honest, and he's heard the man talk about how wonderful and important he things he is, but sometimes it can still be overwhelming. Sometimes it can be too much to imagine him having such an impact, and he fidgets a bit before he looks back up and meets Albert's eyes.]
I know - but hopefully the outcome is good! You've put so much work into this to just get nothing.
