Even if he couldn't see them, couldn't hear them, and no longer at their side; he knew they were with him. The manor is more of a comfort while the lives of his men were more like a silent burden that he carried -- but if he didn't carry it, who would?
But Albert is a little different than him. Moran thinks having a room to fix and prepare would do him good. Having a physical space to see makes it easier to feel the connection and bond that he has.
